If you've been to One Utama you must have come across Kluang Station in the new wing. It's one of those neo-kopitiam places where they serve all the old stuff at higher prices but they're usually not as good as the old school places.
Myself and ST headed to Kluang Station one day after catching 300 in the cinemas. I loved the movie but felt a little guilty bringing ST along to watch it because all that excessive violence was bad for my unborn child :)
Though the restaurant was pretty full we managed to snag a place almost immediately. I didn't take a picture of the coffee I ordered but I can tell you it was way too sweet for my liking. On to the food:
When I saw Laksa in the menu I thought immediately of Curry Laksa which is the only laksa other than Asam Laksa that I knew of until a few years back (because I'm a KL boy). It didn't take me long to notice I was mistaken because the menu simply said "Laksa". Thus I assumed it was Johor Laksa as Kluang is in Johor after all.
When the dish arrived I was surprised at how similar it was to Penang's Asam Laksa except the noodles were much thinner (and it tasted like Maggie mee which is a good thing in my books). The soup was a little flat but since I'm not too much into hot and spicy stuff nowadays it was ok for me. However if you're looking for good asam laksa here's not the place to find it.
One strange thing about this dish is that I don't think I was served Johor Laksa because apparently Johor Laksa looks like this! So apparently Laksa in Kluang means Asam Laksa.

Hainanese Chicken Chop.
The Hainanese Chicken Chop was ST's order and I thought it looked great until I realised that the sauce was basically the tomato sauce from the baked beans. WTF?!! It's as cheapo as it looks not to mention that the fries were totally soaked and soggy. I hope this is not how it's done in the real Kluang Station.

don't worry. Those meals are not available at the origin Kluang station coffee.
Kluang here have only very traditional baked bread, half boiled egg, cheap fried mee/meesiam/nasi lemak. And, the coffee.
Come Kluang, I belanja. :)

my friend calls Kluang Station, a waste of stomach space. With those comments, I have never walked into one ever. Seems a lot of people hang out there becoz prices are cheaper vs other restaurants in 1U.

cat was hungry, is all the excuse i can say for stepping foot into kluang station at The Curve. biggest mistake of my life. the coffee was below par and the food was laughable.
the so called mee siam cat ordered was friggin dry to the point it should be re-soaked in water and cooked again. but she was hungry and u do not mess with a hungry guy let alone a woman.

KampungboyCitygal: it's the most important thing in business studies, location, location and location. it's right smack in the middle and is very easily seen.
however, the kopitiam concept of Uncle Lim's seems to fare better. anyone care to comment?

jon, tried uncle lim's during the weekend just for ya. went to the ikano outlet next to breadstory on the lower ground floor. cat had their nasi lemak and i tried their chicken chop. very disappointing stuff. they also had curry mee and laksa, but i don't think we'll be returning anytime soon.
btw, there is a shop after this malay 'pau' shop, which sells pretty good laksa. opposite a shop which dishes out soya-based stuff.
