In my time spent scouring food blogs I'll sometimes come across comments pointing towards a famous Fish Head Noodle place in Taman Danau Desa. Being a little familiar with the Taman Desa area (I used to live there) I didn't have any difficulties finding the place. If you know where the Shell station is, Woo Pin is located across the road from Shell only it's not called Woo Pin but rather they are housed in a restaurant named Ho A One Steamboat (or something like that).
I believe they operate during the day while the night slot is taken up by the aforementioned steamboat restaurant. Apparently Woo Pin in Taman Danau Desa is a branch of a popular Fish Head Noodle place in Cheras with the same name.
So how popular is this place? Very very popular. I've been there twice and only managed to eat once.
The first time I went with ST we were turned away by one of the staffers (a young punk). Apparently they were 'mai sai' (sold out). Oddly when a large group came the young punk welcomed them in. KNNCCB! I'm not sure why I didn't give the young punk a piece of my mind but I swore never to go back ever again no matter how good their noodles were.
Unfortunately I couldn't resist and returned a few weeks later (I must work on my will power!).
What's even more unfortunate for me is that I had to waste RM8 on what I can only consider as a very standard bowl of Fish Head Noodles. Granted RM8 is for the large serving but there's nothing in the bowl of noodles that you won't find in your typical coffeeshop Fish Head Noodles and they usually cost only half the price. There's absolutely nothing exciting about the noodles I was served. That coupled with the 40 minute wait made me swear never to return again. Only this time I'm absolutely confident of my willpower.
For a better Fish Head Noodle experience try this or this.
