wAntAn productions: Proton TRM Coming Sooner Than You Think

There's been word in some forums that the TRM is launching a week before Myvi. Now I have some form of proof to support this. I managed to get this flyer from a Proton sales person while I was taking a walk in ( of all places ) the local pasar malam :)

Now I was also told that the TRM will be launching next week, which is as the forums predicted a week before the Perodua Myvi's launch. I don't know the TRM's specifics yet. I will have to visit the Proton showroom to find out but the salesperson did mention that the car will cost about RM45k. The salesperson also showed me a few pictures that werenot available on the Internet ( but I bet they will show up very soon ).

Sounds like a good deal but I'm not convinced about Proton's quality.

a golden opinion from wyejon: Well I did visit a Proton showroom over the weekends and here's what I managed to find out:

1. The car will be fitted with a 1.2 Renault Engine. The stupid salesman kept insisting it was a Proton engine with Renault technology.

2. The car has some form of special material used to make its side doors and the salesman claims the TRM passed the EURO NCAP with 3 stars.

3. Fuel consumption is something in the vicinity of RM10 for about 130kms. 0-100 in 12-point-something seconds and top speed is claimed at 170km/h.

4. No other great features. No disc brakes ( just drum brakes ).

a golden opinion from wyejon: Proton did not launch the TRM last week so someone lied to me... either the dealers were too desperate to take bookings or the dealers themselves were lied to by Proton.

Anyways the Myvi will be launched this week. Proton has missed its window of oppurtunity to rack up sales for the TRM. If they are smart they will price the TRM in the extremely low region because that's the only way they can conceivably compete with Myvi now.; 11:54 AM
